After leaving Binary Star and building up his Subterraneous Records crew, OneBeLo was ready to embark on his solo career. He recorded over a dozen songs that he thought weren't worthy of his planned solo debut L.I.F.E. (Lo Is For Everybody), but he still thought a select group of fans would be able to appreciate them. He packaged the intentionally unmixed songs as a treat For Everybody That UnderStands.
That understanding was shown in spades—Lo sold out of all of his thousands of copies within a few weeks, and conceptual favorites like “Double Essay (S.S.A.)” and “Alphabet Soup” built an anticipation for what Lo would come up with when he was focused.
